It is the highest priority of the IntroABEL organisers and Breda University of Applied Sciences that everyone can participate in IntroABEL safely. Great value is placed on making you feel safe and welcome throughout the introduction week — from the moment you arrive until you return home.
You will participate in IntroABEL with the class you will start your studies with. The introduction is organised by senior students and BUas staff, who will be present throughout the entire event to ensure all activities run smoothly and safely.
During the introduction week, you can always contact one of the staff members if you have any concerns. Would you prefer to speak to someone in confidence during the introduction? Please let the organisers know, and they will arrange for the BUas confidential counsellor to assist you.
All members of the organisation have completed a first aid course during the preparations and are therefore able to provide first aid when necessary. During the physical activities of IntroABEL, a professional first aid team will be present to ensure your safety and the safety of your classmates and fellow students.
During the introduction, you are not allowed to bring or consume your own alcoholic drinks or drugs, this rule will be strictly enforced. Alcoholic drinks will be served during the introduction event; the NIX18 rule applies.
We use a wristband system that allows us to immediately check whether an underage participant is violating the rules. Smoking is only permitted in designated areas, including the use of e-cigarettes. The NIX18 rule also applies to these. We reserve the right to remove anyone who violates the rules from the location.
IntroABEL follows the code of conduct of BUas.
“We envision a study environment in which everyone treats each other with respect, in which everyone feels safe and comfortable, and in which you can study successfully.”
We believe it is important to make clear what we expect from each other, what behaviour is desirable, and what we mean by acting ethically and with integrity. The BUas Code of Conduct is intended to provide clarity in this respect.
If any undesirable behaviour does occur and you are not able to discuss the issue or resolve the problem yourself, please contact the IntroABEL organisation team. They will help you get in touch with the assigned BUas employee, who can assist you in contacting the Buas confidential counsellor.
The organisation of IntroABEL reserves the right to remove any participant who acts contrary to this Code of Conduct from the event site, without being obliged to refund the entrance fee.
