Terms and Conditions

IntroABEL welcomes new students to Breda University of Applied Sciences in august 2023. To enable students to become acquainted with the city of Breda, Breda University of Applied Sciences and their fellow students, IntroABEL organised several activities. Terms and conditions have been drawn up for the introduction week for the degree programs of the Built Environment and Logistics domains.

These terms and conditions apply to all students participating in the introduction week IntroABEL of Breda University of Applied Sciences at any time during the introduction of 2023. By filling out the application form the participant automatically agrees with the following terms and conditions. Students cannot participate in the introduction week if they do not agree with the terms and conditions.

The following terms are used in the general terms and conditions:

Participant: new first-year student or higher year students who participates in the introduction week program. Suppliers of goods and/or services that are hired by the organisation of the introduction week are also considered ‘participants’;

Organisation of the introduction week: the organisers of IntroABEL 2023 of Breda University of Applied Sciences;

Introduction week: The full program that is organised by the organisation of the introduction week including all attached activities

Article 1 – General

1.1 Students are only permitted to participate in the introduction week if they are fully admitted to one of the degree programs of the domains Built Environment or Logistics of Breda University of Applied Sciences.

1.2 External visitors will be admitted to the introduction only if the organisers invite them or give their approval. Breda University of Applied Sciences is not responsible for theft of personal belongings and/or bodily or mental harm as a result of participating in the Introduction week. This also comprises a participants’ hearing impairment.

1.3 Personal information such as e-mail addresses, phone numbers, personal situations will not be shared publicly or with third parties. This information will only be shared within the organisation where necessary.

1.4 Breda University of Applied Sciences cannot be held liable for any damage done to the personal belongings of participants and visitors.

Article 2 – Agreement

As soon as an individual has submitted the application form, the participant enters an agreement with the organisation of the introduction week, whereby:

2.1 The participant declares to understand and agree with these terms and conditions.

Article 3 – Cancellation

3.1 Students can cancel their application until 21-08-2023. The registration fee will not be returned if a person would cancel their application after 21-08-2023.

3.2 The organisation of the introduction week reserves the right to cancel the introduction week. They also determine if there are any circumstances beyond their control (see Article 5) as a result of which the introduction week will be cancelled.

Article 4 – Privacy

4.1 The organisation of the introduction week observe GDPR regulations. For more information about the GDPR, we would refer you to the website via the following link: https://gdpr.eu/what-is-gdpr/

4.2 The introduction week will take place through several online means. Breda University of Applied Sciences or any connecting partners including the organisation are not responsible for any loss or misuse of personal data through these means.

4.3 Participants are at no moment allowed to record their screen or take pictures of online activities linked to the introduction without notifying other participants of that activity.

Article 5 – Circumstances beyond our control

Under certain circumstances, it may be decided on the ground of circumstances beyond our control to cancel (certain activities of) the program. If these circumstances are deemed irresponsible with an eye to safety according to the organisation of the introduction week, it may be decided that (the activities within) the program of the introduction week will be cancelled. This rule comprises circumstances such as social unrest, serious disruption of public order, legal prohibitions, orders of authorities, emergency decrees, terrorism, extreme weather, etc. In consultation with Breda University of Applied Sciences, the organisers of the introduction week determine whether it concerns circumstances beyond their control.

Article 6 – Participating and being expelled

6.1 Following instructions

Participants need to follow instructions of the organisation of the introduction week at all times with an eye to the safety, order and actual running of the program. If a participant refuses to follow an instruction, the organisation of the introduction week have the right to expel the relevant participant from any further activities of the introduction week.

6.2 Judging the participant’s condition

6.2.1. Participants themselves are and remain responsible for estimating whether they are in sufficiently good shape to be able to participate in the introduction week.

6.2.2. The organisation of the introduction week have a right to expel a participant from (further) activities of the introduction week if the physical condition of the relevant participant endangers the safety of the relevant participant or others according to the organisation of the introduction week.

6.3 Using alcohol and/or drugs
6.3.1 The organisation of the introduction week have a right to expel a participant from (further) activities of the introduction week if the participant is in a certain state of drunkenness or apparently, under the influence of drugs. It is not permitted to use and possess drugs. If a participant is suspected of having drugs and/or using drugs, the organisation of the introduction week reserve the right to expel the relevant person from further activities of the introduction week. This also applies to (excessive) use of alcohol.

6.3.2 It is not permitted that participants under 18 buy, receive and/or use alcohol. It is not permitted to sell and/or give alcohol to students under 18 either.

Article 7 – Calamities and emergencies

In the case of an emergency, the emergency response plan/evacuation plan will come into effect.

7.1 Participants need to directly follow this plan and act on the instructions of the organisation of the introduction week. If a participant does not do so, all damage incurred will be at the participant’s own expense, as far as he/she can be held liable for it.

7.2 In cases in which there is a calamity, the instructions of both emergency response employees and emergency services staff need to be acted on at all times. Therefore, participants will have to be alert to any emergency situations that may occur.

7.3 If a participant sees a situation that may lead to problems, he or she needs to notify a staff member and/or the organisation directly.

Article 8 – Use of visuals and recordings

Photos may be taken, and films may be shot during the introduction week. By agreeing with the general terms and conditions, the participant declares that he or she agrees that Breda University of Applied Sciences may use them for marketing and communication purposes.
